Shared Reading Liverpool

Join our Shared Reading study

We are looking for young adults (aged 18-25) to take part in a 12-week study on Shared Reading and well-being. You don't need to have experience with Shared Reading or reading in you freetime. You're welcome either way! However, we would like to ask people that have themselves completed the Read to Lead training not to participate.

Shared Reading groups bring people together to read great stories and poems in a space where they can feel at ease. The groups, led by a trained Reader Leader, read together aloud, and everyone is welcome to share how the words make them feel, as well as any thoughts, ideas and memories. There is no pressure to talk or read aloud; it's fine to just listen and enjoy.

The study will run from January 29th to April 2nd 2025. Weekly sessions will take place at The Reader's home in in Calderstones Park, Liverpool, each Wednesday from 4pm - 6pm.

You will be invited to take part in the weekly Shared Reading sessions and to complete weekly questionnaires. There will be a focus group interview at the end of the study. Sessions will be audio- and video-recorded, but all data will be transcribed and anonymized. The recordings themselves will not be shared with anyone outside of the research team and will be deleted after the end of the project.

Further details are provided in the Participant Information Sheet.

As a thank you, all participants will receive a £100 book voucher at the end of the study. If you're interested in joining and meet the age criteria, we'd love to have you on board!
